Shelly Sanford

Shelly Sanford is a leader in Pharmaceutical Mass Tort Litigation, and a Trial Lawyer whose verdicts and settlements have received national attention. Sanford is a member of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the Multi-District Litigation involving Vioxx, which resulted in a $4.85 Billion settlement and the Bextra/Celebrex MDL which resulted in a $780 million settlement. She has represented clients in some 38 States and has been outside counsel for entities such as the State of Texas in its Medicaid fraud litigation. Sanford received the prestigious Clarence Darrow Award from Mass Torts Made Perfect, a national trial lawyers group, for her work in starting the Vioxx litigation against Merck & Co., Inc. Shelly Sanford has also been designated as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the American Trial Lawyers Association. She is the founder of The Believers Caucus, a fellowship of Christian Trial Lawyers across the country that has devotionals by Trial Lawyers for Trial Lawyers.
She was born in Oklahoma and grew up in Hallettsville, a small town in South Central Texas. Shelly graduated from Hallettsville High School, obtained a Bachelor’s of Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin, and graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas.
